چکیده

This paper presents a fully integrated, reconfigurable inductance, developed for high-speed power system transient stability emulation. Known active inductance topologies are not suitable for this application for two main reasons. Firstly, most active inductors are used at very high frequencies, due to their RF applications, and secondly, the DC characteristics of active inductors lead to a saturation problem, as a result of offset currents that occur when connecting them in series. Based on a gyratorC topology, an inductance was realized in a CMOS 0.35mm technology and is detailed in this paper. We were careful to take into account imperfection, calibration, mismatching and process variation. Finally, all requirements were fulfilled to use this inductance in power system AC emulation.

Mixed-signal Computation Hardwares Dedicated to High-speed Dynamic Power System Emulation

This paper examines two mixed-signal hardware circuits dedicated to transient power system emulation. They both use a flexible, modular and very high-speed emulation approach based on a field programmable power network system (FPPNS). This promising approach is dedicated to emulate multiple nodes power system dynamics. The speed limit of such approach overcomes the numerical simulators because ...

Exploiting the on-chip inductance in high-speed clock distribution networks

On-chip inductance effects can be used to improve the performance of high-speed integrated circuits. Specifically, inductance improves the signal slew rate (the rise time), virtually eliminates short-circuit power consumption and reduces the area of the active devices and repeaters inserted to optimize the performance of long interconnects. These positive effects suggest the development of desi...
